Statement by Ambassador (Dr.) Pankaj Sharma, Permanent Representative of India to the Conference on Disarmament, Geneva during Plenary meeting of the Conference on Disarmament held on August 13, 2020 in Geneva

Mr. President,

My delegation congratulates you on your assumption of the Presidency of the Conference.

India is pleased to see Bangladesh in Chair, a fellow G-21 member and a neighbouring country with which it enjoys close and friendly bilateral relations.

India aligns itself with the G-21 statement delivered today by Ambassador Korcho as President of the G-21.

The CD once again witnessed a blatant abuse of this august Forum by Pakistan today.  I shall, however, not dignify Pakistan with my response, as it does not even deserve one and is best ignored.  India’s position is well known and does not need reiteration.

Before I conclude, my delegation assures you of its full support and cooperation, as you continue to ably steer our work for the rest of your term.

I thank you Mr. President.
